Welcome to Quizalize. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our educational platform.

2.1 Information You Provide

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including:

  • Account information (name, email address, school/district)
  • Profile information (teaching subject, grade level)
  • Content you create (quizzes, assignments, questions)
  • Communications with our support team

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use Quizalize, we automatically collect:

  • Usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent)
  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies

2.3 Student Information

For student accounts created by teachers:

  • We collect minimal information (username, grade level)
  • Students do not need email addresses to use Quizalize
  • All student data is protected under FERPA and COPPA regulations

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and improve our educational services
  • Personalize your learning experience
  • Generate analytics and insights for teachers
  • Provide AI-assisted analysis of quiz results for teachers (Quizalize Notebook), using pseudonymised data only
  • Communicate important updates and support
  • Ensure platform security and prevent fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in these circumstances:

  • With Your School/District: Teachers and administrators may access student progress data
  • Service Providers: Trusted third parties who help operate our platform. For AI features this includes Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, used within Zzish's own Azure account under Microsoft's data-protection terms: before any result reaches it, student names are replaced with codes and free text is scrubbed of class-roster names, email addresses and long numbers; the data is not used to train models; and a teacher can delete the imported results from their notebook at any time
  • Read Aloud: When a teacher asks Quizalize Notebook to read an answer aloud, the words on their screen — including any student names Notebook has put back on screen for them — are sent to our servers and to Microsoft Azure Speech to make the audio. Neither keeps them once the audio has been produced.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect rights and safety
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger or acquisition

Class results in Quizalize Notebook. Class results you pull into a notebook stay in that notebook until you forget them or permanently delete the notebook. They are never published, shared or copied with it. Forgetting results removes them and the student codes; what you made from them stays as your own work.

What Quizalize Notebook remembers. Notebook keeps a short summary of what each chat produced and a profile of how you like to work. Chats that used class results contribute only what was done, never what was said; in other chats, names on your class lists, email addresses and long numbers are removed before anything is remembered. You can see and forget everything under Settings › Memory.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Quizalize complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental or school consent
  • Teachers act as agents of schools and parents in creating student accounts
  • Parents may review, modify, or delete their child's information

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the platform. Your continued use of Quizalize after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
